Amelda Rameswar is a Legal Assistant and Receptionist at our Vaughan office, where she supports the firm with a variety of administrative and client-facing responsibilities. In her role, Amelda enjoys the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, develop strong client relationships, and continue expanding her knowledge of the legal field. She takes pride in being able to assist others and contribute to a positive experience for clients as they navigate their legal matters.

Before joining Douglas Law Firm, Amelda gained a diverse range of administrative, reception, and professional experience through short-term contracts while completing her university studies. Her previous roles allowed her to build valuable skills while gaining insight into different industries and professional environments. Some of her experience includes working with Baker McKenzie, Timbercreek Capital, DECIEM, Upper Canada Court and Mediation, and Ecclesiastical Insurance. Through these opportunities, Amelda developed strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills while building a professional network and gaining experience in a variety of fast-paced settings.

Amelda’s interest in the legal field began with her longstanding fascination with crime documentaries and the justice system. This interest inspired her to pursue studies in criminology and justice, ultimately leading her toward a career where she could combine her passion for the legal system with her desire to help others. What she enjoys most about her work at Douglas Law Firm is the opportunity to continually learn and grow. “Being able to expand my knowledge is huge, and that’s what I have been doing since being here,” she shares. Amelda values the opportunity to develop her skills, take on new challenges, and feel that the work she does has a meaningful impact on others.

Amelda holds a Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies from the University of Guelph-Humber, as well as a Diploma in Police Foundations from Humber College. Her educational background has provided her with a strong foundation in justice, policing, and the legal system, which she continues to build upon through her work at Douglas Law Firm.

Outside of work, Amelda enjoys spending time with her friends and family and loves seeking out new experiences. She enjoys hiking, trying new restaurants and food spots, travelling, and going on cruises or escaping somewhere with a palm tree. She also enjoys staying active and spending time at the gym. While she does not currently have a pet, Amelda would love to have a dog someday—particularly a Toy Poodle or Miniature Dachshund.
